Northampton, as the League 2 leaders, are the side all are now targeting with Leyton Orient the next side taking aim with Chris Wilder more than aware what a challenge they’ll pose this afternoon.

Getting to the top of the table is something Northampton have had to work hard to secure with Wilder citing the fact the Cobblers are ‘playing with a freedom’ and have a ‘real positive attitude’ in the approach being taken but the run of results secured has also been down to the amount of hard work put in.

The boss has told the Official Website he’s prepared to face another tough game against Leyton Orient at the Matchroom Stadium, an Orient side fresh from a win at Portsmouth last Saturday with Wilder praising the impact Kevin Nolan’s had since his arrival.

‘Leyton Orient are formidable opposition and I’m sure the team will match the personality and the winning mentality of their manager. Kevin Nolan has given the club a spark and with the players that they’ve got I’d say they are one of the top five clubs in this league. They have won three out of the last four and they will think if they have a good end to the season that they can sneak into the top three and we’re thinking that we have just got to keep our heads down and keep playing with the same drive that has got us into this position.’

He also knows, as mentioned, Northampton are ‘there to be shot at’ as we move into the crucial stage of the 2015/16 season with nothing handed to you so Wilder wants to make sure such an approach, and mentality, already being shown is retained and staying in the top three (at least) remains the case between now and May.

Wilder was also able to confirm the fitness of Zander Diamond despite his knock to the head in the win against York. Diamond didn’t want to come off in that game but, rightly so, no risks are taken with head injuries these days.
