There wasn’t to be a repeat of the last round upset as Northampton were dumped out of the league cup.

AFC Bournemouth were the favourites going into the league cup second round game, as were Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first round, and they lived up to this billing with a comfortable 3-0 win at Goldsands, aka Dean Court, on Tuesday night.

Dan Gosling (21) got Bournemouth off to an early lead with Brett Pitman going round the ‘keeper to make it two with just half an hour gone, which is how it remained at half time.

Any hopes of an unlikely Cobblers revival, to force extra time, were ended with 11-minutes to play as Callum Wilson (79) wrapped up a three-nil win to leave us to ‘concentrate of the league’ as the championship side look forward to this evenings third round draw with us dreaming about what might have been….
