Northampton’s hunt to secure automatic promotion from League Two remains very much on following a late win over Torquay on Good Friday, in an evening game at Sixfields.

The majority of the first half pressure came from Northampton but they couldn’t find a way past Michael Poke, or simply couldn’t find the target. However Torquay went close themselves in a goal less first half.

Northampton continued to press for the opener in the second half, being denied by the post once and also having a Roy O’Donovan header ruled out for offside. Torquay themselves felt they should have had a penalty too.

With just five-minutes to play O’Donovan (85) headed home to give The Cobblers the lead, despite having two late worries they saw through a 1-0 win to move into the third and final automatic promotion place.
