Rumours surrounding Northampton’s instant favourite Guillem Bauza have turned out to be true, with the Spaniard expected to join League One side… wait for it… Exeter City.

Not the destination many would have expected.

However, the Spanish striker put the Sixfields faithful on the edge of their seats on a number of occasions with his exquisite touch and elegant play, added in was also four vital goals that led the Cobblers to safety from the League Two drop zone.

Bauza’s stay at Sixfields was short and sweet, but the former Swansea City frontman had a massive impact on keeping Town in League Two, and it is certain that Northampton fans will wish him a fond farewell and best wishes for his future at St. James’ Park.

And on Bauza’s exit Johnson told ntfc.co.uk, ‘We wish him well for the future. He did well for us and we were good for him, and we thank him for his time with us and now we move on.’

‘If we wait we may miss out. Now we know what is happening with Guillem we move on.’

Altogether, Bauza was on target for times in ten appearances for the claret and white.

Could Bauza’s departure be an early blow to the Cobblers’ chances of promotion next season? You can either comment directly below this article, or alternatively you can discuss this, and more within the Vital Northampton Forums
