Northampton’s start to the season is a far cry from the side that made it to the league two play off final last season. They travelled to Bristol Rovers on Saturday looking to get back on track.

They came away with another defeat though…

A game that had barely got underway saw Locker (2) head Bristol Rovers into a very early lead. If you were late into the ground you would have missed it!

Bristol Rovers felt that they were denied a first half penalty following “tangle” between Harrold tangled and Heath with Platt forcing Bristol Rovers goalie Mildenhall into a good save as the Cobblers went into the break a goal down.

Northampton came so close to grabbing a point but Hackett’s last minute free kick, curled in nicely, came back off the upright.

A bad day was made worse when O’Donovan was sent off in injury-time when he collected a second yellow, with the game ending 1-0.

Its been a bad start to the season, however Aidy Boothroyd would point to the fact that last season didn’t start well at all either…
