Northampton have become specialists in scoring late goals this season, another on Saturday proved vital.

Plenty of times this season already Northampton had scored late goals to salvage a point but on Saturday a late goal won them the points at Sixfields in a 1-0 win over Exeter City.

Exeter threatened to breakthrough, and secure a first win of the season, with Liam Sercombe forcing Matt Duke into a save with Duke also having to save from his own teammate Zander Diamond, tipping his effort over the bar.

Ivan Toney found himself on the bench, but when he came on he almost found a winner with an overhead kick that hit the bar and he was also kept our by Exeter ‘keeper Christy Pym.

With the game moving into the last minute, and a goalless draw on the cards, Toney’ flick on to Ben Tozer’s long throw gave Marc Richards (89) a chance and his overhead kick won us the game one-nil.
