Another late goal was enough to save Northampton and keep an unbeaten home record in league 2 so far this season intact.

Northampton needed an injury-time equaliser against 10-men Shrewsbury Town at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon in a 1-1 draw.

A goalless first half had seen Shrewsbury reduced to ten before the half hour mark when Liam Lawrence was shown red for a bad foul on Preston North End debutant loanee Joel Byrom, who was ok.

Shrewsbury might have been a man light but it was they that took the lead just past the hour when James Collins (63), who had come on, opened the scoring.

Defeat, which was also suffered in midweek at Portsmouth, was looking likely until Emile Sinclair (90), who was informed earlier this week that he can leave, headed home Lawson D’Ath’s teasing cross to earn us a point in the one-one draw.
