Chris Wilder snapped up Leicester ‘keeper Adam Smith recently following his sacking with him now adding former Oxford ‘keeper Ryan Clarke too, with his signing announced this week.

The arrival of Smith might have left some thinking we were there or thereabouts as far as that area of the squad was concerned but Wilder’s dipped back into the market again to bring in free agent Clarke on a two-year contract.

33-year-old Clarke, no stranger to Wilder of course having played under him when he was the Oxford manager, was released this summer having made more than 250 appearances for our League 2 rivals previously.

The battle between Clarke and Smith to be our no.1 this season will now begin with Wilder already saying both will be given a chance in pre-season to put forward the case….

But who will this be? The experienced Clarke or the rookie, but highly rated despite his summer indiscretion that saw his release, Smith?
