Northampton 1-0 Plymouth

Sixfields

Northampton saw off Plymouth at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon to consolidate their promotion bid, most likely via the play offs but potentially automatically.

Chances were there for both sides in the first half, both keepers making several saves to keep the scores level.

Northampton pressed on in the second half and finally broke the deadlock with time running out. The Plymouth keeper lost the ball under pressure from The Cobblers attackers, some are crediting Clive Platt with the goal but it seemed to be a Jake Cole (72) own goal.

Former Cobblers defender Anthony Charles, who also went close in the first half, almost levelled for the visitors but a 1-0 win for Northampton was secured.
