Northampton knew that victory over Dagenham & Redbridge in the penultimate game of the league two season left league two survival in their own hands on Saturday.

Beating Oxford United at Sixfields three-one ensured that this was the case.

It’s just as well that the Cobblers did come from behind, following a surprise earlier setback, to beat the 10-man U’s as defeat would have seen them relegated even though Bristol Rovers also lost,

Wycombe’s win kept them up on goal-difference, which would have also been the case for Bristol Rovers had Northampton not come back to secure the win, or at least a point.

Chris Wilder has worked wonder at Sixfields since his appointment, it’ll be interesting to see what he does over the summer with all hoping that next season proves to be a little less nerve jangling, certainly for the wrong reasons!
