Northampton’s run of three successive wins ended with defeat at Oxford on Saturday afternoon, as the hosts won for the first time in five.

James Constable’s (15) early goal, the appeals for offside were waved away, was enough to send Oxford into a half time lead.

Having been denied by the post and the bar the hosts were pegged back late on by Clive Platt’s (76) equaliser, which looked to have salvaged a point.

Oxford were soon ahead again though when Jon-Paul Pittman (79) struck to earn Oxford a 2-1 win, with Northampton ending with 10-men when Clarke Carlisle saw red for a second yellow in the last minute.
