David Cardoza, as he told BBC Look East, is delighted that another achievement he wanted for Northampton has been achieved.

When he took over at the club in 2002 he had several ambitions that he wanted the club to achieve, so far these have been managed with relegation not something that was part of the plan!

The trip to Wembley next weekend for the League Two play off final adds to the meeting with Manchester United and gaining promotion previously, he said: ‘I wanted to play Manchester United. I did that (in the FA Cup in 2004).

‘I wanted to get promoted. I did that (to League One in 2006). I’ve been relegated (in 2009). I didn’t want to do that.

‘And I wanted to be part of taking the town to Wembley – I’m really proud about that.’

Cardoza will be even prouder if Northampton can complete the job and secure another League Two promotion by beating Bradford in the play off final.

Setting targets, and challenges, are what motivate you to succeed. Having achieved many of these with The Cobblers he’ll now be looking for the next, promotion to the Championship perhaps!
