Alan Connell’s signing was confirmed today, with his arrival kick-starting the beginning of a frantic day of transfer activity with Northampton.

Connell’s arrival at Sixfields was mooted earlier this week with his signing, on a contract until the end of the season with the Cobblers essentially taking over his existing Bradford contract, confirmed today.

With James Hanson, and former Bantams striker Nahki Wells, ahead of him he found it hard to gain first team football but the 30-year-old still played his part in helping to gain them promotion from league two last season, at Northampton’s expense in the play-off final of course.

The striker is five goals shy of scoring 100 career goals, if he can notch at least that amount during his time with the Cobblers, if he only stays until the end of the season; that could be pivotal in the clubs relegation battle.
