Northampton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the midweek action.

The performance by Zandar Diamond in the three one victory over Swindon Town in midweek at the County Ground was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Diamond was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Northampton have bounced back from seeing their 31-game unbeaten run end by recording consecutive victories. Diamond and his team-mates produced some determined defending in the most recent of those – Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Swindon Town.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Diamond for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Joe Bunney (Rochdale), Mark Roberts (Cambridge United), Zander Diamond (Northampton Town), Josh Morris (Scunthorpe United), Marlon Pack (Bristol City), Dominic Gape (Wycombe Wanderers), Josh Clarke (Brentford), Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United), James Vaughan (Bury), Jon Steadman (Notts County).

Manager – Chris Powell (Derby County).
