Hopes are high with Dean Snedker, however in the short term the Northampton youngster will be plying his trade with Carshalton Athletic.

Who are Carshalton Athletic? That’s a question that a good few would ask! They play in the Isthmian premier division, which is where Snedker will spend the next month of his footballing career.

18 isn’t exactly young for a footballer these days but in goalie terms this definitely is. Many don’t even reach their peak until the mid-late 20’s, sometimes even 30’s so he still has plenty of time ahead of him and will almost certainly become the Cobblers’ no.1 in a year or so.

In the meantime he needs some first team football, so this is a good move.

Aidy Boothroyd had hoped to get him a loan during pre-season but this didn’t happen. There was even talk of him maybe starting this season as first choice but the boss eventually got Matt Duke, and he can teach Snedker more I’m sure.

Already capped ay U19 level for England, potentially he could make the U21 step up in the next few years, maybe even the senior squad one day? But lets not put too much pressure on him just yet…
