Perhaps not the striker that we wanted but a midfielder with an attacking intent could be poised to make a move to Northampton?

Kane Ferdinand is being linked with a month-long loan to Sixfields with the outcome of that to be known today.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson has admitted that an approach to the league one side has been made by Aidy Boothroyd and it’s a move that he appears happy to sanction.

The Ferdinand name will be familiar, given Les, Rio and Anton all carry this, and yes Kane is a relative as he is a trio of the well-known Ferdinand trio.

Formerly with Southend the midfielder was much in demand a year or so ago with Posh eventually snapping him up with him a regular for them in the championship last season but he’s failed to make an appearance, for various reasons, this season.

He’s a quality footballer so it’s a loan move that could work for all concerned so I’d be happy to see him come to Sixfields if we can organise this.
