Will Northampton’s defensive problems finally resolve themselves with a new addition?

That would certainly be the hope, if not expectancy, following Aidy Boothroyd’s decision to bring in experienced former Milton Keynes Dons defender Mathias Kouo-Doumbe.

Experience isn’t something that the 33-year-old lacks at all, with him playing plenty of times in the British game alone with the likes of Plymouth and MK Dons, with him leaving the league one side in the summer with them releasing him after almost 150 games at stadium:mk.

An experienced head has really been lacking this season, following Clarke Carlisle’s decision to retire at the end of last summer and Kelvin Langmead still sidelined so Doumbe will make a good signing.

Not only does he has experience he also has quality, and proven quality at that in league one so is more than capable of playing at a higher level.

Yes, I think this is a fine addition to the Northampton defensive options and I look forward to seeing him playing a part in turning the Cobblers’ fortunes around.
