Northampton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Northampton Town in the one nil victory over Doncaster Rovers at the weekend at Sixfields was enough to earn them a place as manager of the most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Hasselbaink was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘What a way to announce your arrival at a new club. Northampton were without a point after their first four league games, leading to the departure of Justin Edinburgh and the arrival of Hasselbaink. His first test was against Doncaster Rovers, and the new man in charge saw his side go ahead after just 21 seconds. That Matt Crooks effort proved decisive, and the Cobblers are up and running in 2017/18.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Hasselbaink for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa), Daniel Jones (Notts County), Krystian Pearce (Mansfield Town), Tony McMahon (Bradford City), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Bradley Johnson (Derby County), Kieran Lee (Sheffield Wednesday), Adama Traore (Middlesbrough), Pierre-Michel Lasogga (Leeds United), Chris Porter (Crewe Alexandra), Kieffer Moore (Rotherham United).

Manager – Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Northampton Town).
