Northampton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after the midweek action.

The performance by Ricky Holmes in the two one victory on Tuesday evening over Crawley Town at Sixfields was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Holmes was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Newly-crowned Sky Bet League 2 champions Northampton returned home to Sixfields, and returned to winning ways after a run of four consecutive draws. Holmes` wizardry caused Crawley Town problems all night, and he got his rewards when he converted a penalty in the 2-1 success.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Holmes for his recognition, but the most important thing about the midweek match was of course the win.

Full Team:

George Long (Sheffield United), Sol Bamba (Leeds United), Ryan Tafazolli (Mansfield Town), Marc Roberts (Barnsley), Anthony Knockaert (Brighton), Tom Ince (Derby County), Luke Berry (Cambridge United), Ricky Holmes (Northampton Town), Scott Hogan (Brentford), Jake Jervis (Plymouth Argyle), Lyle Taylor (Wimbledon).

Manager – Jackie McNamara (York City).
