Much of Saturday’s nine-nil drubbing of Sileby Rangers is, of course and rightly so, about Alex Nicholls as he marked his return to playing action with a hat-trick in 11-minutes.

That was a definite plus from the win but another plus from the victory over the non-league outfit was the full 90-minutes played by Kelvin Langmead as he continues to step up his own return from a long-term injury, which saw him back into the first-team fold for the burning embers of last season.

Nicholls’ return, goals and the odd ‘whack’ he took here and there was a plus, among other things, but Langmead playing the full 90-minutes when he was only meant to play 60 was another for Chris Wilder.

Wilder told the Chronicle & Echo: ‘We only had Kelvin down to play 60 minutes but he wanted to stay on and that was good.

‘So we can take a lot of good things out of this game.’

In playing the full game Langmead came through his first full 90-minutes in some 15-months or so, as he managed this last back in April 2013.
