Northampton might have ended the game with only 10-men but it didn’t make any difference as we thrashed Accrington at the Crown Ground on Saturday afternoon.

It wasn’t just ‘a win’ it was a thrashing of Accrington as we won five-one to make it four successive wins, whereas our opponents have now lost four successive game.

Holmes (5) got us off to a fine start when he fired home via the crossbar to give us an early lead. When Buxton brought down Holmes it gave us a penalty, which Richards (32) made no mistake with despite Macey’s best efforts.

When Cresswell conceded a penalty he also collected a red card for a professional foul – Joyce’s saw his penalty kept out by Duke but Mingoia (40) converted the rebound to make it two-one and give them hope.

Two-goals in two second half minutes from D’Ath (65) and Richards’ (67) second at the midway point of the second half to confirm our win.

D’Ath (80) wrapped up the five-one win 10-minutes from time.
