We left it late but a Northampton reaction to the defeat against Hartlepool in midweek came on Saturday when we secured a last gasp point at Mansfield.

Mansfield, despite our best efforts even with 10-men from the 36th minute, looked like beating us at the One Call Stadium before a dramatic injury-time penalty secured us a one-one draw.

The Cobblers could have gone ahead early on but Mansfield ‘keeper Pidgeley kept out Holmes, who couldn’t convert his follow up as that went into the side netting with Heslop went clipping the top of the bar from a freekick.

O’Toole, on #JJOTDay, was lost to a straight red card 10-minutes before the break when he clashed with Sutton – not the way to celebrate the occasion…

The second half was only minutes old when Oliver (48), with our defence failing to deal with a freekick, put Mansfield ahead with the bar preventing Taylor from levelling up and other chances passing us by before finally we were rewarded when sub Brown was brought down Toney as he went into the box in injury-time to win a penalty, which Richards (90+3) fired home to earn us a one-one draw.

Attention now moves away from this game and turns to our next one against York and we are looking for your view on what way this will go?
