Northampton got their league two season up and running last weekend with a win over Fleetwood, and will be looking to build on this at Southend today.

The last away win in league two that the Cobblers actually secured was at Southend’s Roots Hall last season and Aidy Boothroyd hopes it’ll be a “happy hunting ground” again.

Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton: ‘Southend have had a good start, two wins from their league games.

‘They’ll be difficult to beat. I know Phil Brown and Dave Penney very well. They’re both good managers in their own right. Phil’s putting his own stamp on it.

‘We know we have to improve our away form. The last place we won away was at Southend so let’s hope it’s a happy hunting ground for us.’

Southend are flying, perhaps Northampton were a little fortunate against Fleetwood last week but they’ve got that win under their belts.

I’d think Boothroyd, and most Cobblers fans, would take a point but all three isn’t out of the question…
