Northampton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Long in the two one victory over Oxford United at the weekend at the Kassam Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Long was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘The man on loan from Burnley led the line well and struck a fine solo goal in Northampton Town`s 2-1 away victory at Oxford United, a third straight League One win. Just 105 seconds after the hosts had levelled, Long robbed the ball off an opponent and showed speed, skill and sharp shooting to restore the lead, one which would not be relinquished again.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Longfor his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
