Northampton Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Chris Long in the two one victory over Walsall at the weekend at Sixfield’s was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Long was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Cobblers striker Long helped his team recover from an early Erhun Oztumer goal that put Walsall 1-0 up at Sixfields, by netting twice in a 2-1 victory. His first came just two minutes after the Saddlers had got their noses in front and, just as proceedings looked destined to be level at the break, the Burnley loanee expertly fired home the winner.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Long for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
