It’s been confirmed that our former Forest and Yeovil defender Brendan Moloney will miss the start of the new Northampton season due to a knee injury.

Chris Wilder has told the Official Website that his problem dated back to last season when he suffered an injury against Burton.

He’s said that the advice, at the time, was rest but this has proven to be ‘bad advice’ as a meeting with another specialist this week revealed he needed surgery, which was undertaken on Tuesday.

As a result Wilder’s said he’ll be out for four to six-weeks.

‘The advice we got was for him just to rest but he’s been to see another knee specialist today and he’s been operated on.

‘We expect him to be out for between four and six weeks and that is obviously a big blow for us.

‘I’m a little bit disappointed in the advice that we got but we have to move on and I’m sure Brendan will rehab pretty quickly and hopefully he’ll be back by the end of August.’

I think it’s safe to say that we’ll not be consulting again with the one who didn’t offer us the best of advice in the first place!
