It was back to winning ways for Northampton at the weekend as our inconsistent yet consistent habit of late of winning a game then losing one and so on continued.

Northampton inflicted a third successive defeat on Morecambe, who are slowly slipping down the table after an impressive start to the season, as we came away from the Globe Arena with a 1-0 win on Saturday.

Surprisingly, given that we were the visiting side, we did dominate the early stages of the game but had to wait until just past the half hour mark to breakthrough when Ivan Toney (33) headed home.

Morecambe put us under a little more second half pressure with Paul Mullin failing to hit the target with a good chance.

Loanee ‘keeper Jordan Archer also had to tip over an Alan Goodall header late on to ensure that we earned the points, we deserved, with a one-nil win.
