A late second half fightback from Northampton wasn’t enough to prevent us from suffering defeat at the weekend.

Newport, three-up just before 55-minutes, were made to sweat at the end but Northampton couldn’t quite complete a comeback as we lost 3-2 at Rodney Parade on Saturday afternoon.

First half goals from Chris Zebroski (18) and Darren Jones (33) had Newport in complete control with a little over half an hour played.

Shortly after the break Justin Edinburgh’s side went a further goal clear when Lee Minshull (53) made it three-nil.

Chris Wilder called for the cavalry and one of those summoned from the bench was Lawson D’Ath (76) and he gave us some hope before and Marc Richards (85) gave us real hope when he reduced the deficit further with five-minutes to play.

We would have scrapped a point in the last minute but for Daniel Alfei missing a great chance with Newport holding on to win three-two.
