When a new boss comes in they always want to make changes to the playing squad, and Chris Wilder isn’t any different.

However, having swapped Oxford promotion bid for Northampton’s relegation fight, he doesn’t expect any players to do likewise and has gone as far as saying he’ll not be looking to raid his former employers for recruits.

Wilder has a lot of respect for the players he left behind, new and old, but our of respect for Oxford and what he feels is “fair” he isn’t going to be looking to bring anyone from the Kassam Stadium with him.

The new Cobblers boss told the Northampton Chronicle: ‘There are a lot of quality players at Oxford and I had a great relationship with the players.

‘There are boys there that were with me for five years and boys that have only been there for five months.

‘I get on with players. I want to have a relationship with them and there are some good players there but I won’t be going back for them. I don’t think that’s right, proper or fair.

‘We’ll look around the market and I’d imagine Oxford won’t want to lose anyone now anyway, with having a tight squad and because they’re going well at the moment.’
