The Northampton play-off hopes took a major setback on Tuesday when we lost to relegation threatened Carlisle, who went away from Sixfields not only boosting their survival hopes but with all three-points having won two-nil.

Defeat, our second in three-matches, leaves us four-points adrift of the top seven now….

Following a goalless first half a Dempsey pass to Kennedy (69) saw him break the deadlock with the lead soon doubled when Dempsey (71) himself got on the scoresheet this time to extend the lead.

Accrington loanee Gray could have scored for us but his header was kept out by Carlisle ‘keeper Hanford with Moloney failing to hit the target with another chance.
