Northampton’s play-off push was given another boost as we followed up our win at Shrewsbury, the first club to beat them at Greenhous Meadow this season of course, with a one-nil win over Portsmouth at Sixfields on Tuesday.

You almost sensed that Holmes (25) would have a part to play and it was the former Portsmouth winger that fired past Jones with a curling effort to give us the lead after Toney earlier had been denied by Jones and put another effort wide.

Portsmouth striker Taylor forced a save our of Duke with Hollands, Robinson and Passley all having chances too.

Tubbs was denied late on by Duke again before Portsmouth captain Chorley went for collection his second yellow card.

Attention now moves away from this game and turns to our next one against Plymouth and we are looking for your view on what way this will go?

Select the option that you want from the list in the poll to your right, but why not also share your thoughts with us on your thinking for that game, and this game itself, with some views below….
