His search for a new boss is ongoing, but for this to happen he needs “one or two situations” to unfold….

Cardoza told the official website: ‘I would like to say the search goes on but we are waiting for one or two situations to unfold and then we’ll have more to say. Things will become clearer in due course.’

The Cobblers are in deep relegation trouble, and Cardoza knows this but they’ve dug their way out of trouble before and he feels they’ll do it again. His moves haven’t always been liked but he feels the fans should be able to trust him by now after his 11-years with the club.

He added: ‘To find ourselves in this situation is an absolute nightmare.

‘Two years ago we were in this position and worse. I sorted it out then, I’ll sort it out again.

‘I’ve been here 11 years. The supporters might not always agree with my decisions but they know they can trust me.

‘I know we’re bottom of the Football League. We’ve got 21 games left. We’re going to turn it around and make sure that whatever decision gets done is the right one to take the club forward.’

I wonder what these “situations” are that Cardoza refers to? The more time that passes, the less likely it now seem that caretaker Andy King will actually end up getting the job? Or will he!
