It was expected that Paul Reid would leave Northampton when his short-term contract ended, and indeed he has.

Former caretaker boss Andy King had hinted that Reid wouldn’t be having his contract renewed when it expired and Chris Wilder has decided that he doesn’t require the services of the defender and he’s been allowed to leave Sixfields at the end of his second spell.

Reid joined the Cobblers as a free agent, after leaving Scunthorpe, in September and until January 4th had started every match but hasn’t featured since.

Matt Heath, Clive Platt and Kevin Amankwaah have all already been released this month.
