If things continue the way they’re going Rotherham and Northampton could face each other next season in League 1? Due to the Millers battling to stay in the Championship with the Cobblers leading the way in League 2 pushing for the title and promotion to that league.

Chris Wilder is the man to lead Northampton forward but the exit from Rotherham of Neil Redfearn on Monday has seen him (Wilder obviously) linked with his former club, as a player, one again.

When Redfearn was appointed as Rotherham boss back in October, taking over from Steve Evans who ended up at his former club Leeds, this saw Wilder linked but he played talks down. After more than 130 appearances for the Millers between 1992-1996 you can get the links with Sky Sports having sources claiming their former defender is seen as his replacement.

The Cobblers have denied an approach for permission to speak to him has been made but it isn’t clear if this would be granted should it come? It goes without saying losing the former Oxford boss, who arrived a little over two-years ago, isn’t something we’ll want but would he want this?
