Cobblers boss Ian Sampson was in complete shock after witnessing his side fall to their fourth consecutive League Two defeat.

The Cobblers looked fine and dry after a first half hat-trick from Leon McKenzie looked to have secured all three points 45 minutes early.

But in a totally opposite second half, Sampson was in ‘shock’ after witnessing his side fall to a 4-3 defeat.

‘It was a poor second half performance and I’m in total shock,’ Sampson told ntfc.co.uk.

‘We’ve let everyone down today and I’m lost for words as to how we can play so well in the first half and then so badly in the second half.’

‘The second half is a bit or a blur to me and everything we said to the players at half-time they did the total opposite.’

‘The players let themselves down badly in the second half but what was said in the dressing room should remain between me and the players.’

‘We’re going through a difficult time and the pressure is on us big time at the moment but we need to stick together, keep working hard and hopefully things will turn for us.’
