John Marquis notched his first goal for Northampton on Saturday a goal that gave the Cobblers a potentially priceless win.

It might have been only his first goal in his 10 outings but his efforts have deserved this since he came in from Millwall on loan and now he’s looking for more.

The striker says that he ‘fancies himself’ to score more and can’t see why he isn’t able to score a goal in each of his remaining four games during his loan spell at Sixfields.

The striker told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo: ‘I fancy myself to carry on scoring now.

‘I have four games left in my season and there is no reason why I can`t score in all of those matches.

‘I want to do everything I can to keep Northampton up.’

First and foremost though the Cobblers staying up is the priority, for the club and him.

He knows that goals or no goals so long as Northampton avoid relegation he’ll know he’s helped play a part in a winning team with him having been his aim when arriving to help them do this.

Marquis is hopeful that he can ‘chip in with some more good performances and goals’ though.
