Talks with the Indian consortium looking to complete a takeover at Northampton are ongoing and progressing well by all accounts with chairman David Cardoza offering up an update of events on the Official Website this week.

Cardoza knows the importance to us that we’re kept abreast of the situation as it unfolds and he’s looked to share what he can.

He can only speak for himself, and tell us so much, but he’s said that talks are ‘continuing in a very positive manner’ following the announcement last week that Head of Terms had been agreed.

‘It has been a week since we announced that Heads of Terms had been agreed and while I clearly wouldn’t want to speak on behalf of the consortium I understand the supporters need and want to know as much as possible so I am happy to provide an update.

‘The consortium are aware of both the potential of the club and the issues we have faced. They are looking at the club as a whole with the immediate focus being the need for the club’s own training ground and increasing the capacity of the stadium, both are issues they are very keen to address.’

Obviously he could only tell us so much, and much of what happens is of course up to the consortium, but he did add that ‘a fresh approach in regard to the East Stand’ is being looked at with new plans drawn up.

They will seen ‘be writing to Northampton Borough Council, ahead of a formal meeting, to introduce themselves.’

Any takeover, with the ins and outs involved, takes time and I’d expect most of us to appreciate this.

He added.

‘These things do take time, but all parties are working to bring matters to a conclusion as soon as possible and we will update supporters as and when we can.’

It’s definitely better, as frustrating as it can be at times, that this takes time and no stone is left unturned to that this is done in the right way and is in the clubs’ best interests first and foremost.
