Ivan Toney came close to signing for Wolves last year before this deal collapsed at the last and he remained with Northampton.

Rumour has it that he’ll be moving on this summer and going a step further as he’ll be making a move to the Premier League as the Mirror has reported that Newcastle have been impressed by the striker and will be signing him.

Despite his lack of first-team appearances for us, and being only 19, the striker has impressed and has consistently been linked with a Sixfields exit, could this finally be the time it happens?

A fee of £300,000 will allegedly come our way from Steve McClaren’s side but should this go through a sell-on clause is something I’d expect would also be included!

This interest has been confirmed by Chris Wilder, which saw him left out of the squad that beat Sileby in our opening pre-season friendly today.
