The would he wouldn’t he situation with Chris Wilder has come to an end with him confirmed as the new Northampton boss.

On Saturday it was claimed that Wilder had resigned as boss of Oxford, he denied this and insisted that he was still the U’s boss but talks over a switch to Sixfields would continue.

With a compensation package agreed with Oxford Wilder has now been confirmed as the new Cobblers boss, signing a three and a half year contract.

Wilder switches a sixth place position with Oxford, who were four points behind league two leaders Scunthorpe, for Northampton who are bottom of the table and six points adrift of safety.

If Wilder has made the right decision will be known at the end of the season.
