Chris Wilder, following the game last Saturday, didn’t hide his disappointment at the nil-nil draw with Burgess Hill Town.

He’s again spoken about this, telling the BBC he’s looking for us to get ‘a competitive attitude’ back.

Wilder admitted the players were also ‘disappointed’ by that draw, but after a worthwhile Sussex training camp that saw this game follow on from a five-two win other Worthing he’s looking for us to step it up.

‘Players will be disappointed with Saturday’s result. We played okay.

‘We created a lot of chances but that’s the competitive attitude I want.’

A lot of ‘good signs’ are coming out of pre-season for Wilder, with him positive enough about the new season ahead.

Results aren’t the be all and end all of pre-season but not only does he want us to train well he added he wants us to be winning too with Championship duo Derby and Birmingham next on the agenda.

‘I want them to do well in everything we do, in anything we do in training or in matches – we want to win.’

‘There were a lot of good signs going forward and the new players we have signed integrated themselves with the existing members of the squad very well.’

These two-matches should give us a very good test, and the Cobblers will be looking to test them too!
