Town End Year With Five Game Winning Streak

The Cobblers welcome fellow strugglers Stockport County to Sixfields this weekend, (well hopefully!) a game described as ‘huge’ for Northampton by defender Dean Beckwith earlier this week.

With home advantage over Stockport, who are sat two places above the Cobblers, and with only one more point, many will feel we can get December off to the best possible start with a home win on Saturday afternoon.

And four more games follow until the new year, four games where I believe the Cobblers can pick up maximum points against.

It was at this stage last season the Cobblers eventually picked up their form after a stuttering start, which saw them defeated only twice, in an incredible 22 games. What is there to say that could not happen again?

Two more home games follow Stockport at Sixfields who Northampton avoided defeat against last season, winning one and drawing the other, plus two away ties with one a new ground for many Town supporters to visit, and another where we have become a ‘bogey side’ in recent years.

‘Struggling’ has been one word associated with Northampton alot recently, a word rather harsh for a team who have lost only once in their last five League Two matches, add to that a Stockport side who have shipped 22 goals on their travels so far this season, confidence is high around Sixfields that Ian Sampson’s army can continue their promising league form this weekend.

Here’s to say Northampton will have a 100% record in the month of December!
