Northampton didn’t lose too much ground the League 2 play-offs but missed a chance to close the gap following defeat against Cambridge on Easter Monday.

Points being lost aren’t something that we could afford much of, in particular at Sixfields, but Cambridge did just that to ease their relegation fears and dent our hopes of making the top seven.

Cambridge couldn’t have made a better start, or us get off to a worse one, with Dunk (1) beating Duke inside of a minute.

Gray looked to keep up his recent good goalscoring run but headed over a chance. Cambridge could have added a second, and deciding goal, through Mendez-Laing whereas Cresswell and Moloney both threatened an equaliser we couldn’t manage.

This was a definitely setback, we’ve still got an outside chance of making the play-offs though, but it’ll be tough….
Stevenage (a)
If we are to get back into the top seven we quite literally can’t afford to drop any more points so first and foremost must win our next game at Stevenage, but will we?
