Northampton’s League 2 season, an unbeaten campaign full stop at this point, continued with another win against Exeter at Sixfields on Saturday.

Both sides came into this with 100% records, so something had to give but it wasn’t Northampton’s with the Cobblers maintaining that perfect record with a third successive cleansheet kept in a three-nil win.

Northampton were ahead when Taylor (25) scored his first Cobblers goal, a memorable one at that into the top corner from 25-yards! Cresswell’s (38) header before half time doubled this lead.

Any doubts, which were minimum, were ended when Richards (89) made absolutely sure in the last minute.

These were the match highlights.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Friday 14th August
Notts Co 0-2 Mansfield

Saturday 15th August
Barnet 0-2 Wycombe
Carlisle 4-4 Cambridge Utd
Crawley 1-2 AFC W’don
Dag + Red 1-3 Leyton Or
Luton 2-2 Oxford Utd
Morecambe 1-0 Accrington
Newport 2-2 Stevenage
Northamptn 3-0 Exeter
Plymouth 1-2 Portsmth
Yeovil 0-1 Bristol R
York City 1-2 Hartlepool

Looking at these results the stand out one has to be the Northampton win against Exeter of course, but aside from that an incredible draw between Carlisle and Cambridge!

An up and down game at Brunton Park saw Carlisle come from behind and Ibehre grab himself a hat-trick, the first in League 2 this season to continue his early season form, but that still wasn’t enough to give the Blues all three-points in a four-four draw with free scoring Cambridge.

Northampton are back in action this midweek looking to maintain this 100% start with an away game against Barnet at the Hive on Tuesday.
