Northampton battled back against a Wycombe side that were still chasing automatic promotion, and we looked like we had ended with a draw until a winner deep into injury-time saw Wycombe win, but it wasn’t enough….

At two-nil down at half time it looked like the season would end in disappointment at Sixfields, but two second half goals got us back into the game only for Wycombe to win it three-two deep into injury-time.

Hayes almost put Wycombe ahead but his effort hit the bar with it his effort blocked that led to Holloway (36) volleying home to put the visitors ahead. Three-minutes later it was two when Yennaris (39) beat Jalal.

Wycombe thought they had a third when Hayes finally did score but his goal was ruled out for offside and then around the midway point of the second half we got back into the game when Wood (67) turned into his own net to make it two-one.

Cresswell (85) made it two-two with five-minutes to play, and looked to have gained us a point but Mawson (90+7) won it for Wycombe at the death but even that wasn’t enough with Bury’s win at relegated Tranmere securing them third spot.
