Aidy Boothroyd’s managerial credentials with be tested to the max, who has been named Northampton Town boss.

The former Watford, Colchester, and Coventry City manager, has put pen to paper on a 1 year rolling contract, and will be assisted by Andy King, who has had spells at Swindon and Mansfield as first team coach.

Boothroyd couldn’t have arrived at a better stage of this disastrous season. With the Cobblers not in FA Cup duty this weekend, the new gaffer has over a whole week to implement his tactics on the training ground, before Town host Crewe at Sixfields on December 10th.

Throughout December, three of the Cobblers’ next four matches are at Sixfields, giving Aidy and his side a good opportunity to pull themselves away from the league two drop zone.

And on his latest appointment, Town chairman David Cardoza told ntfc.co.uk..

‘We’re delighted to have Aidy Boothroyd on board and that he has agreed to take up the challenge of moving this club forward.’

‘We took on board lots of advice and the message came back loud and clear that Aidy was the best candidate for the job.’

‘From our talks it is clear that Aidy knows the problems we have been suffering and he has done his homework on us.’

Boothroyd wont hang around. Will get a better offer before long and be on his way. He did it at bigger clubs than this. Hope the Northampton fans enjoy getting neckache watching Boothroyds’ team smash it in the air. Boothroyd loves his sides to play football in the clouds.
