Yet again Northampton were unable to build on, or hold onto at least, a lead that we had when we had to make do with a point at Chris Wilder’s former club Oxford on Tuesday.

Once more, at half time, things looked good for us with Toney’s (38) freekick shortly before the break deceiving Oxford ‘keeper Ashdown to send us in one-up.

With us unable to find a second, and deciding goal, we were always at risk of conceding an equaliser as we did in injury-time when MacDonald (90+1) scored to make it one-one and send us home having earned a point that would have felt like a defeat!

You can see more like this on officiallyntfc.

Now with just three-matches left, even though mathematically it’s still possible, a seven-points gap to seventh will be too much to make up….
